Welcome The NEW Shape of 40+ is in you! It's in all of us. Let me show you my journey from rock bottom health and physical condition, to a satisfying and healthy life. I knew I needed to do something about my deteriorating body. After completing chemotherapy treatments, loosing my hair dealing with the burns of radiation therapy, and the fatigue from puking and constant needle poking I was “sick and tired of being sick and tired. One of my goals in life had always been to be in my best shape by age 50. I was 46 then and hadn’t exercised or eaten right since my 20’s. Some how raising 2 boys being a wife, running a business and serving others had taken over my life and 50 was approaching. I found my answer in bodybuilding. Bodybuilding has taught me many lessons in life. Discipline, self-control, sacrifice, mastering my mind over my body, patience, and humility. It isn’t for everyone, but I do believe everyone can benefit from some form of exercise and proper nutrition. This is not about looking good in a pair of jeans, although it is a nice benefit. This is about life and death. Join me, as I show you the New Shape of 40+! |

My journey to the 2009 Master's Nationals in Pittsburgh, PA. was a motivating experience. It started with the overnight red-eye with my traveling companions and coaches, Dan and Gerri Davis. Gerri also competed in the over 35 heavyweight and took a well-earned 2nd place, her highest ranking to date in a National level show. Gerri looked amazing as she chiseled away 12 lbs. from her last year's appearance. You go girl, your PRO Card is on the horizon!
Arriving in Pittsburgh early Thursday morning, we were all pretty exhausted and wanted nothing but sleep. Unfortunately, our rooms weren't quite ready and after waiting in the lobby too long, we decided to take the shuttle to the grocery store and get our pump-up food.

About DeniseI joined the fitness industry as a fitness trainer after 8 years as a restaurant owner and 14 years in the real estate community. In my 40’s I overcame a series of health issues and surgeries from car accidents to breast cancer and a serious crush injury that left me in chronic pain. After hiring a personal trainer, changing my eating habits and living a disciplined lifestyle of exercise I have been able to overcome my physical weaknesses and pain and live a much happier and healthy life. I have a new passion for living and helping others through my experiences of pain and suffering and give my daily adoration to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. A little about me and how I was able to overcome life's adversity: After completing chemotherapy treatments, loosing my hair dealing with the burns of radiation therapy, and the fatigue from puking and constant needle poking I was “sick and tired of being sick and tired. One of my goals in life had always been to be in my best shape by age 50. I was 46 then and hadn’t exercised or eaten right since my 20’s. Journey to Masters Nationals 2009 |
|
Currently, I am training in preparation for the upcoming "Masters Nationals Bodybuilding Championship" in Pittsburgh, Pa. I hope to step on stage, July 18, 2009, in my best conditioning and look to date, thanks to the coaching of Gerri and Dan Davis. Besides overseeing my training and diet, Gerri also has choreographed my 90 second routine set to the music of rhythm blues singer Jasmin Sullivan. Gerri coaches me in my quarter turns and mandatory poses as well, which has given me much more confidence on stage.
Under their guidance I have gone back to the basics of bodybuilding with straight sets, supersets, and lifting heavy. It was concluded at my last contest in April 2009, "The Emerald Cup", after speaking with the judges, that I needed bigger legs. So, who else better to consult with than the lady with legs, Gerri Davis.
